Ed Sheeran is engaged!
British singer Ed Sheeran fans are really heartbroken as he announced his engagement. This is really a day of joy as well as sorrow!
Grammy award-winning singer, Ed Sheeran announced his engagement to long term girlfriend, Cherry Seaborn via Instagram on January 20th.
According to the post, the couple got engaged just before New Years’ and that their “cats are chuffed [about the engagement] as well.”
Sheeran and Seaborn were friends since their high school days in Suffolk, but only started dating in 2015.
“One of our best friends worked on my tour,” Sheeran explained to Us Weekly in March last year, “So when we came to New York, where she was living at the time, we hung out and reconnected through our mutual friend. She’s great.”
Cherry Seaborn is a both a financial consultant, and a hockey star- she played for the U21 English team in 2012 European Championships, winning a bronze medal. She also played for Duke until 2014 and is currently signed with the Wimbledon Hockey Club, according to Rolling Stone.
Last January, Sheeran said that his break from music in 2016 was the first time he had time to “fall in love properly”. The couple spent a good chunk of the singer’s hiatus travelling around the world.
In his interview with Rolling Stone, Sheeran also mentioned that Seaborn was the inspiration behind his hit song ‘Perfect’.
"One day this will fucking end," he said. "And I know the one person that's going to remain constant is Cherry."
